Inspiration
We could see mobile apps transforming job searches and how it became more common to outsource domestic jobs using these mobile apps. We wanted to take part in this new wave and further connect technology with our daily lives
What it does
Make sno no mo, an application that promotes snow removal services by connecting shovelers with a database of customers. Jobs can be added by registered users and be seen within the app sorted by location with added information such as pricing and rating. The application also supports verified users to make comments about a specific shoveler and mirroring functionality to collect all comments filtered by a given shoveler.
How we built it
The React application was developed by combining a flask backend that handled data manipulation and collection using PostgreSQL with a front-end that dynamically creates pages along with HTML styling.
Challenges we ran into
Creating multiple pages with React
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Every team member experimented with a process/language that they did not know but was still able to make major steps in the project
What we learned
The team was exposed to React for the first time and a few members learned to deal with API's and web development.
What's next for No Mo Sno
- Adding user “Plow Driver” where a plow driver can set the path they are driving and show which streets are clear
- Improve job sorting functionality on the Jobs page with pay range and length of time to complete
- Implement a messaging system for Shovelers and Customers in order to ask questions such as:
