Inspiration
The inspiration to Build Decidedly comes from a personal itch i come across often, we’ve all been there: a long meeting wraps up, everyone pitched in, you took pages of notes, and you went about your day. But days later, you look back and realize the clarity is gone. You can’t decipher your own shorthand, the exact conclusions are blurry, and you’re left wondering: What did we actually decide? Who owns the next steps? And why did we pick this solution over the others? I built Decidedly to solve this exact frustration. It’s a simple Decision Report Generator designed to cut through the noise of chaotic meeting notes and instantly distill them into a clear, actionable source of truth—so you always know the what, the who, and the why behind every decision.
What it does
Decidedly simply is an AI-powered decision record generator that transforms unstructured meeting notes, Slack threads, email chains, or transcripts into clean, structured decision reports. Built on Google's Gemini AI, it solves the common problem of decisions being made in messy, scattered conversations but never properly documented. Users paste raw text or upload a document, and Decidedly instantly extracts the core decision, the options that were weighed, the rationale, constraints, trade-offs, ownership, and next steps — all formatted into a professional decision record that can be copied or downloaded as Markdown. It is designed for product managers, engineering leads, project managers, and cross-functional teams who need to capture and share decisions quickly without manual effort.
How I built it
Honestly once i had the idea, the initial stages were pretty smooth. I used Vennie.ai to plan and polish out my idea from there i just got my project structure Vennie.ai gave me and pasted them in google AI studio and with minutes the initial version of my app was alive, it was exactly working as intended but hey it was nice to see the idea forming. As a front-end developer this was my first time working on a full stack project so relied on prompting combined with manual coding to get the app to work the way i wanted.
Challenges i ran into
The biggest technical challenge was ensuring the AI didn't just summarize, but actually accurately captured the intent and the rejected alternatives—which are often lost in translation.
Accomplishments that i am proud of
Decidedly works exactly as i intended, It clearly states the final decision, maps out the exact trade-offs of why one option was chosen over another, and automatically extracts actionable tasks, assigning them to the correct team members. It turned five minutes of reading a mess into five seconds of absolute clarity." Being able to build something like this over the weekend is really amazing.
What i learned
AI has really lowered the barrier to product development, Anyone can ship now. If you have an idea, AI can help you to develop the idea, implement the idea, and even monitor your product quality and efficiency as users interact with it.
What's next for Decidedly
Moving forward, I plan to integrate this directly with Slack and GitHub issues to automate the pipeline from meeting to sprint backlog. Decidedly can ensure that teams spend less time remembering, and more time building. Thank you.
