Inspiration
EPFL as a renowned educational and research institution frequently hosts events, seminars, and meetings for its students, faculty members, and guests. These events often include buffet meals, which can result in significant food waste and leftover food at the end of the event.
The digital platform is intended to built upon Pocket Campus that addresses food sustainability in educational institutions. The platform is designed to enable organizers to distribute leftover food to students in need, thus minimizing waste and promoting efficient use of resources.
The platform hopes to ensure that leftover food is allocated to the appropriate individuals as soon as possible. Through the platform, organizers can easily monitor food availability and coordinate with volunteers to distribute it efficiently.
One of the key benefits of the platform is that it incentivizes organizers to participate in food sustainability efforts. Organizers who participate in the program are awarded higher priority for event organization, thus encouraging participation and driving positive outcomes.
How we built it
We built a demo with Wireframe and illustrate the workflow of this app.
Challenges we ran into
Risk Management
- Prevent leftovers from go bad → make people sick
- Organizer might not know the amount of leftovers
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Made a demo of it. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1xmSjiSHvfHP5LuP45hz1sI74MxsNFK_p2nVWc3q9BDk/edit?usp=sharing
What we learned
