Inspiration
My friend lost a watch on an NJ Transit bus and had to call the lost and found customer service number and had to go through a lot but never found his watch.
What it does
The Lost and Found System allows NJ Transit users to report, search for, and retrieve lost items. Users can submit item details and images through a form, which are stored in Firebase for easy management and recovery. Additionally, if someone finds an item, they can upload a picture along with details like where they found it and a brief description, adding it to the database to assist in the matching process.
How we built it
To host the website, we used Flask, to create the backbone (backend) of the website, we used Python and to add the design, we used HTML/CSS/JS with Tailwind and the cherry on the top was Firebase to store the data from the users.
Challenges we ran into
Integrating Flask with frontend
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Firebased and OpenAi integration into the code.
What we learned
It's better to use Django and React to create a nice UI/UX frontend.
