Inspiration
I was looking for a rental home in Albania when this hackathon was going on, and I had a really hard time finding good place because none of the existing websites were good. So I thought, why dont I create a website like zillow but for Albania first and then open to the whole of eastern europe?! Of course this would be normally impossible to accomplish in just a few weeks. And on top of that I was moving and we are expecting a child, so life has been hectic. But with bolt it was made possible and fully functional in just under a week!
What it does
It is a rental or for sale home posting website. Yes it is a boring business, but arent all amazing things built on top of boring buzinesses? Thats exactly what I plan to do with this. I plan to integrate an AI to this so that it can be a customer facing AI realestate agent. But right now it does exactly what you would expect a home posting website to do; You can create an account, post a home, search for homes, add to favorites, share with friends. But its a well built system, I tested it with a realestate agent friend of mine for about two weeks.
How we built it
After coming with the idea, I designed the architecture and the pages, and options. Once I had a clear image in my mind. I just went ahead and described the base of it, including the Database architecture to bolt, and it built a great base. Of course many things were not working, but slowly we got things done. After having a good base (product details and search page), I started working on the authentication, oauth and posting system. I went with one feature at a time, until everything was completed.
Challenges we ran into
The challenges I had for this were mostly in the front end. It did good designs, but it was hard to have it make specific changes. So I had to go ahead and do some coding on my own.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Honestly the big achievement here for me was building such a complete and well tested website in under 4 work days. This truly is crazy. Yes you can build a prototype in a week or so, but never a real releasable product! Of course that is until bolt came around!
What we learned
I learned to lean on AI more. I am a software engineer and I always have the instict to do things on my own. But this time I trusted bolt, and got things done QUICKLY!
What's next for njoftime.app
As I mentioned earlier, this is just the beginning. After people start using the simple but GOOD home posting app, I plan to improve it very quickly.
- AI Cusomer Service agent, to help the users find the homes they want. The agent will be able to communicate with real life agents to setup home walkthroughs and appointments with owners.
- AI Agent that helps home owners setup a good home sale or rental posting.
- Expand out of the Home market into the marketplace market (like facebook marketplace) but with the Power of AI.
- There is no amazon in the balkans, so once people are used to it, I plan to make a talk to all the small businesses and create a system so that they can easily have an online storefront in my njoftime.app. So the long term goal is to be the Amazon of the balkans, then hopefully sell the startup to amazon.
