TrustPay

Inspiration

As a freelancer myself, I’ve experienced the uncertainty of completing online work without any assurance of getting paid. Millions of gig workers around the world face similar issues—delayed payments, dishonest clients, or disputes with no clear resolution. This inspired me to build TrustPay, a decentralized platform where work and payments are governed by transparency, not trust. Thanks to Algorand's smart contracts and Bolt.new’s no-code power, I saw an opportunity to create a solution that's both accessible and secure.

What it does

TrustPay allows clients to post small jobs (microtasks), and freelancers to pick them up and complete them. The key feature is that payments are held in escrow on the Algorand blockchain when the job is posted, and are only released once the work is approved. This eliminates scams and builds a more trustworthy freelance environment. The platform also includes: User profiles (Client/Worker) Task posting and acceptance Smart contract-based payment flow Messaging system between users Personalized dashboards for both sides

How we built it

We built TrustPay primarily using Bolt.new, leveraging its no-code platform to create all the UI, logic, and workflows quickly. For blockchain integration, we connected to Algorand APIs to handle smart contract-based escrow. The app was then deployed using Netlify for smooth performance and scalability. We also added a “Built with Bolt.new” badge as required.

Challenges we ran into

Integrating Algorand blockchain logic in a no-code environment was tricky. We had to creatively work with Bolt.new’s API connectors to bridge the smart contract logic. Designing a dispute flow that’s simple yet fair took a lot of thought—we didn’t want to overwhelm users. Balancing a clean UI with essential functionality was challenging within time constraints.

What we learned

No-code tools like Bolt.new can power real, scalable applications. Blockchain doesn’t have to be complex—it can be practical and user-friendly. Even solo or small teams can ship big ideas when focused and guided by user needs.

What's next for TrustPay

We plan to: Add identity verification (KYC) to increase credibility Enable ratings and reviews for workers and clients Offer multi-currency payouts using Algorand’s ASA tokens Launch a real-world pilot in East Africa, where gig work is rapidly growing Pitch this idea to blockchain-based accelerators and investor networks
