Inspiration

Many citizens face difficulties while filing government grievances due to lack of clarity about the correct department, complex procedures, language barriers, and uncertainty about how to draft a formal complaint. Genuine issues often go unresolved simply because people don’t know how or where to raise them properly.

What it does

NIVARAN AI is an AI-powered civic assistance platform that helps citizens understand and prepare government grievance complaints correctly. The platform:

• Identifies the correct grievance category and department based on the user’s issue
• Explains the official grievance process in simple steps
• Generates a professional complaint draft in the user’s selected language
• Allows users to download the complaint as a PDF for submission on official government portals

The platform does not submit complaints automatically. It acts as a guidance and drafting assistant only.

How we built it

The project is built as a modern web application using React, TypeScript, and Vite. Google Gemini API is used meaningfully to:

• Understand and classify grievance descriptions
• Generate structured, formal complaint letters
• Translate and generate complaints in multiple Indian languages
• Simplify complex government workflows into citizen-friendly explanations

Publicly available grievance categories and official guidelines are used without collecting or storing sensitive personal data.

Challenges we ran into

• Designing an AI system that assists citizens without impersonating government portals
• Ensuring ethical AI usage with clear disclaimers
• Maintaining accuracy while supporting multilingual complaint generation
• Keeping the user experience simple and understandable within seconds
