Inspiration
I was inspired by real stories from friends, family, and countless women who often feel unsafe while commuting, walking home, or traveling alone. I realized that in real moments of danger, people might freeze, panic, or simply can’t act — and traditional safety apps often fail right there. I wanted to create something that silently walks with you, so you don’t have to ask for help to be protected.
What it does
The MVP of Niva focuses on building trust and real-time connection:
Companion mode to start a safety session
Trusted circle: select people who get notified in emergencies
Route planning: choose or save common routes
Location sharing simulation: keeps your trusted circle updated
Emergency alert system: triggers alerts if the user doesn’t end the session
Dark mode: gentle, calming UI that feels like a friend, not an app
How we built it
Used Bolt Builder to rapidly prototype core flows and screens
Designed UI to feel soft, friendly, and calming — avoiding cold, clinical tones
Implemented companion mode logic with session start, location pings, and end-session check
Built trusted circle and route planning management within Bolt’s flow logic
Focused on making the MVP simple, smooth, and ready to demo
Challenges we ran into
Keeping the experience passive while still actionable
Balancing “proactive safety” without overwhelming trusted contacts
Designing an interface that feels human and comforting — not just functional
Staying within MVP scope and Bolt’s builder limits, while planning bigger future features
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built a working, user-friendly safety companion in a short time
Managed to create something that feels like a friend, not an alarm system
Focused on real-life scenarios: freezing, panic, and silent danger moments
What we learned
Real safety is emotional, not just technical
Simple design choices (tone, colors, button text) change how safe users feel
MVP should solve one strong problem first, and evolve later
What's next for Niva
This MVP is only the beginning. We plan to add:
Mid-session micro-check-ins (“Are you okay?”)
Smart escalation if the user doesn’t respond
Passive triggers (route deviation, sudden stop detection)
Stealth shadow mode (recording and alerting silently)
AI-powered emotion detection for better alerts
Wearable or gesture-based triggers
Community-driven SafeTrail maps with real data
Niva’s mission: To become a silent, trusted companion — so you never have to walk alone.
