Inspiration
Nightshade Motors Pvt. Ltd. is a fictional leading Automobile Company founded in India and is now operating in over 10 countries worldwide with over a million satisfied customers. In its recent rebranding initiative, they have hired me as their web developer for its initial phase.
What it does
Nightshade was founded and registered by a bunch of college grads on 12th August, 2014 with just a 18 members who were tech savvy and car enthusiast.
How we built it
Being in Mechanical Engineering Stream, I always wanted to explore the tech world more and more in and so I participated in this hackathon. Unfortunately, I could only learn HTML5 & CSS3 and very lil of JavaScript but couldn't implement much of it in this site.
Challenges we ran into
Implementing a search bar using JS and adding more functionality like an interactive catalogue for users were the main challenges I encountered.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am a huge fan of animations, and I'm proud that I could implement few SVGs animations in my first real world project of Web Dev. I followed the lead provided to me by https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWai7fYp9PY
Understanding CDN (Content Delivery Network) and implementing it for Font Awesome & Bootstrap & Mapbox was fun.
Embedding RSS Feed of "Cars" - Google News was one more thing which greatly improved user's retention on my website (as I hope)
Mapbox was certainly the show-stopper because it helped my present my office locations in a completely new perspective.
What we learned
This list, is never ending, to be honest, completing a project in itself is a thing may couldn't do, and implementing an idea which only exists in your head is the next tough thing. But through this hackathon, I learned how frustrating it could be at times to be a developer, and the little joys you get when you just get an element in the right position or when your embedded maps loads correctly! Oh god, those small bursts of happiness are unforgettable.
What's next for Nightshade Motors Pvt. Ltd.
This has the farthest I have come in Web Dev. stream and creating this just using HTML5 & CSS3 is something I am proud of, but not being able to add much of JS is something which haunts me, so yes, adding more of JS is definitely what I want to work upon.
