Describe your project (max 150 words) This app is a movie and TV show browser that allows users to create personalized profiles and manage custom lists, including a watchlist, a list of previously watched titles, and a favorites section for their top picks. Each movie and TV show entry includes details such as genres, release year, cast, directors, and available streaming services or places to watch. Users can also give their own ratings. The app features a dedicated discussion section for each movie and TV show, offering both spoiler-free reviews and post-spoiler discussions. Additionally, a Hot Takes section serves as a social discussion forum where users can share bold opinions, debate controversial viewpoints, and comment on others' takes. Others can comment, engage in debates, and share their perspectives, making it a dynamic space for passionate discussions. A powerful search engine makes discovering content easy, letting users explore by genre or browse international cinema, including Bollywood, Korean dramas, and anime.

I conducted research to explore whether people struggle with remembering the plots of movies and TV shows they have watched, as well as keeping track of their viewing history. Additionally, I examined how likely they are to participate in online discussions and forums related to entertainment. The study aimed to understand common challenges viewers face in recalling storylines, managing their watchlists, and engaging in social interactions about films and television. The results showed that a little above 50% of people remember the plots of stories they have watched. People often rate movie but have not ever written a review. Lastly a far vast majority of people watch movies and TV shows of various genres and from different international entertainment industries.
- Describe your most important design decisions. What research findings and/or user testing results led you to make these decisions? (Max 500 words) My initial concern was short-term memory loss, as we often forget daily events and small details. This extends to entertainment, where busy schedules can make it easy to lose track of storylines and plots. From my survey results, I found that while not many people actively use online forums to rate or review movies and TV shows, entertainment is frequently discussed in person among peers. This initially made me question whether the social platform and tracker I was developing would truly be useful. However, my findings took a positive turn—many respondents expressed a willingness to engage in online discussions about their favorite movies and TV shows. Encouraged by this insight, I decided to move forward with my project, excited to explore its potential.
