Inspiration
I wanted a notebook I could use at night, on my phone, without an account, a server, or an internet connection. A single page with a dark lantern look felt right for that.
What it does
Night Lantern Notes lets you add a note, delete a note, search your notes, and export all notes as CSV. Notes are saved in the browser, so they are still there after you reload the page.
How I built it
It is a single static page built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Data is stored only in localStorage, with no backend and no external fonts, images, or music. The repository includes Kiro spec files under .kiro/specs/night-lantern-notes/ and steering files under .kiro/steering/, and the .kiro directory is at the repository root.
Challenges I ran into
Keeping the app truly offline and simple was the main challenge: no account, no server, and no extra dependencies, while still making add, search, delete, and CSV export all work on a phone.
Accomplishments that I am proud of
A working app that opens fast, works offline, and can be used and deployed from a single page, with a public demo video and a public GitHub repository.
What I learned
How to keep a small app honest and complete: one clear job, local-first storage, and a demo that shows exactly what the app does.
What's next
Keep it as a simple offline notebook, and fix small issues only if they appear in real use.
