Inspiration: Those hot summer days, where the sun has melted you to your chair, and you can't find the strength to get up. The only thing that can save you is the jingle-jangle of the ice cream truck, delivering sweet, cold salvation to your doorstep. But what if the jingle-jangle never comes? What if today, they took a different route, one block to the west? With NiceCream, you'll always know where creamy heaven is.
What it does: NiceCream takes advantage of the mobile phone revolution, by tracking Ice Cream trucks and putting them on the map, in real time. You will never be left in the dark on where your mobile cream comrades are again!
How I built it: NiceCream is built using the amazing Ionic Framework. Built on top of Angular JS, it makes developing multi-platform mobile apps simpler. Languages used are TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS.
Challenges I ran into: Live updates of the geolocations
Accomplishments that I'm proud of: Fixing live updates of the geolocations
What I learned: More people care about ice cream trucks then I ever could have imagined. Were bringing it back. Learned a ton about continual updating and refetching to keep locations current.
What's next for NiceCream: Deployment, baby! The world needs it's nice cream, I'm here to deliver it. Well, help other people deliver it. Well, really just help people see where those people are.
