Inspiration
we always wanted to help the society but we could not get in touch with the ngos so we decided to make an app that cann do that for us
What it does
it tells the users about differrent ngos in their region and that them apply for volunteers.
Challenges we ran into
As this was our first hackathon, we faced quite a lot of challenges. First of all being learning about the tech stack we used in out project. We had to learn how to apply our theoretical knowledge into a real application. Second was to integrate the backend with frontend. We could make small mini projects that are client based and erver based but never made a full stack app. We had to make apis in the node backend and call them from the react frontend. Third was completion on time. As this was a first for us, we couldn’t estimate exactly how to learn new stuff and build a product on the go. But we were able to make some progress on that
What we learned
We learnt various features of MERN stack, how to make APIs using node and express, and fetch data from mongodb atlas using mongoose. We learnt about how to test out apis using postman and learnt about jwt auth. Another interesting thing we learnt was how both the react frontend and the Flutter app could access data from the same api we hosted online on heroku.
