NFTickets - NFT based Smart Contracts Tickets

NFT-based Smart Contracts Ticket Sales Platform on the XRPL

NFTickets is revolutionizing the way tickets can be sold and used. And all this in a simple and secure way by using NFTs and Smart Contracts(Hooks). In conjunction with ➡️ EntryX - Opens Doors the entire process of ticket sales and admission control can be automated using the XRPL.

Inspiration

Selling tickets can be quite expensive (commission) and exhausting (support) for companies, artists, ... . Using the XRPL brings many benefits to both buyers and sellers.

What it does

It uses smart contracts (Hooks) and NFTs to provide a cheap and secure way to sell all types of tickets. The actual workflow looks like this:

  • The seller registers for ticket sales
    • The Hook gets prepared for their needs and installed
    • The offer gets published on the NFTickets website
  • The buyer can browse all available tickets and their different categories
    • It shows all the details for the ticket
  • The buyer buys the ticket of his choice
    • He chooses the category and sends the required XRP to the smart contract
    • In return he gets an NFT that points to an "Ownership Certificate"
  • As soon as he reaches the entrance of the venue, EntryX opens the gate
    • EntryX verifies that he owns the NFT representing the ticket and opens the gate

The NFTs can be traded on the open market at any time. This gives the seller another advantage, he earns the transfer fee for each resale.

How we built it

It uses Hooks, XRPL.js and Angular.

Challenges we ran into

Minting NFTs and creating "sell offers" and "payments" on Hooks in a fail-safe state while keeping the code fast and secure is quite a challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

NFTickets provides NFTs with a real-world use case and opens the door to a whole new way of buying/selling tickets.

What we learned

A lot about Hooks, WASM, low-level C and NFT's on the XRPL. But most importantly, how important the key features of the XRPL – speed, low fees, scalability, … – are in order to provide such services to the masses.

What's next for NFTickets

It's online for testing and hopefully a lot of people will try it and give feedback to better tailor it to their needs before Hooks goes live.
