NFT Express: Streamlined Gifting and Wallet Creation!

Step 1. Locate the NFT you want to gift on the Theta Rarity My NFTs page.
Step 2. View the NFT, then click or tap the Gift button.
Step 3. Enter the recipient's email address and name, and a short message.
Step 4. Recipient receives an email with the details you entered and a link to claim.
Step 5a. If the recipient's email address is already registered with Theta Rarity they will be asked to sign in (if not signed in already).
Step 5b. Otherwise, if this is a new email address, they'll be given the option of signing in with that email address.
Step 6. If signing in for the first time, all the recipient needs to do is enter a password. Their email address has already been verified.
Step 7. The NFT is transferred to the recipient's Theta Rarity wallet.

Inspiration

NFT Express was born out of a passion to introduce newcomers to the world of NFTs, eliminating the daunting task of navigating complex wallet setups and cryptocurrency purchases.

We understand that the process of getting started with NFTs can be overwhelming for those unfamiliar with the space. That's why we've designed NFT Express to be a user-friendly solution that simplifies the onboarding experience.

With just an email address, recipients can effortlessly claim their gifted NFTs. By removing the barriers to entry, we aim to foster NFT adoption and spark curiosity among individuals who may have been ignorant of or hesitant to explore the world of NFTs.

What it does

NFT Express simplifies the process for NFT owners to introduce others to the exciting Theta NFT ecosystem.

With our platform, all you need to do is select the desired NFT from your collection, enter the recipient's email address and name, and include a short personalized message. We take care of the rest by creating an email and sending it to the recipient.

Upon receipt of the email, the recipient can simply click the link provided. The only additional step for them is choosing a password to secure their account. We handle the wallet setup seamlessly and at no additional cost, making it effortless for recipients to claim their NFT and embark on their NFT journey with ease.

NFT Express is now live on Theta Rarity.

If you don't already have a Theta Rarity account, you can created one by signing in with you choice of ThetaPass, MetaMask, Wallet Connect, or with an email address.

To gift an NFT, you'll need an NFT in one of your linked wallets (NFTs in linked ThetaDrop wallets cannot be gifted). You'll also need enough TFuel in that wallet (about 12 TFuel) to cover transaction and service fees.

How we built it

NFT Express is built upon the established Theta Rarity platform, which redefined user onboarding by supporting multiple user sign-up mechanisms and automatic wallet generation. Leveraging this foundation, NFT Express further streamlines the process.

With the removal of the email verification step, recipients can effortlessly claim their NFTs by simply clicking the link sent to their email address. Our unique smart contract plays a vital role in this process, securely holding the gifted NFT while facilitating a small payment from the gifter to cover blockchain transaction fees.

By utilizing this innovative approach, NFT Express ensures a seamless and cost-effective experience for both gifters and recipients.

Challenges we ran into

While achieving the seamless operation of NFT Express, we encountered several challenges that are not apparent when looking at the elegant simplicity of the final product.

Coordinating the various moving parts proved to be a significant endeavor. Ensuring the underlying complexity of the process worked harmoniously demanded meticulous attention to detail. Integrating the email system with wallet creation, navigating security considerations, and synchronizing blockchain transactions posed intricate technical hurdles. Moreover, guaranteeing scalability to accommodate a growing user base while maintaining a seamless experience necessitated careful optimization. Addressing potential network congestion, optimizing gas fees, and designing robust error handling mechanisms further added to the complexity.

However, through relentless dedication and innovation, we successfully surmounted these challenges, ensuring that NFT Express offers a user-friendly, streamlined and secure experience that conceals the intricacies of its inner workings.

What we learned

Throughout the intense development process of NFT Express, which was constrained by tight hackathon deadlines, we have gained valuable insights and learned important lessons.

While we are excited to have launched the project, we recognize that the true learnings will come from observing its operation over a longer timeframe and receiving user feedback. We anticipate that user experience and simplicity will play crucial roles in driving adoption and engagement within the NFT ecosystem. Additionally, we gained a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in integrating various systems and technologies, and we will continue to refine and optimize our platform based on real-world usage.

This experience reinforced the importance of robust architecture, meticulous planning, and adaptability in overcoming technical challenges.

What's next for NFT Express

The future holds exciting prospects for Theta Rarity as we continue to evolve and expand our offerings.

Building upon the success of NFT Express, we are committed to enhancing the user experience and introducing new features based on feedback from the community.

We are also exploring partnerships with artists, creators, and brands to use NFT Express to promote their unique offerings to a wide range of diverse audiences and through that, it is our hope and expectation that many new people will be introduced to NFTs and the Theta ecosystem.

We will also be looking into expanding the avenues through which NFTs can be gifted from just email, to include SMS messaging and perhaps social media integration.
