Inspiration

Inspired by the ongoing refugee crisis which began in Europe in late February 2022 after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, we have viewed the situation from their perspective, imagining what they must hear, see, think and feel during these devastating times.

We have quickly identified weaknesses and strengths which derive from the situation but most importantly, their current and future needs. Thus, we began wondering in which ways we might be able to help the cause and through what means.

From then on, the flow of ideas and concepts took us to the land of NFTs and NFT Marketplaces used for promoting charity movements.

What it does

Our solution aims to present the idea of a De-Fi themed solution. We have thought of an online platform for content creators and content buyers, who wish to play a part in the well-being of Ukrainian refugees in Romania, in the context of the Russia-Ukraine war.

The platform is an NFT Marketplace which encourages the community to help on the one hand through content donations and on the other through content acquisitions. The available NFT types are of Ukrainian-related Art, Photo and Audio content. The profits from the sales of NFTs are directed to the Romanian Red Cross Humanitarian Association.

Challenges we ran into

We held the Hackathon preparation meetings online, not physically. For this reason, at one point we encountered some technical problems due to bad weather conditions. At the same time it was difficult to gather up and synchronize our meetings because of the differences in school schedules, having some children learning in the morning and others in the afternoon. However, we managed to overcome these obstacles, communicate effectively and organize ourselves to create the final solution.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Although we had fewer members than in other cases, we are proud that we managed to develop an interesting, innovative idea in a very short period of time. It was a beautiful and unique experience for us. In the case of some children, this was the first time they participated in a Hackathon type of event.

What we learned

During the Hackathon meetings with our mentor we were exposed to a variety of new terms and notions, such as: NFTs and NFTs Marketplaces, De-Fi and other types of finance.
