Inspiration🧠

The inspiration for NFC Technology for Beauty Accessibility came from the realization that traditional labeling methods can be limiting for people with visual or other types of impairments. I saw an opportunity to leverage NFC technology to provide a more accessible and convenient way for customers to access product information, and to help create a more inclusive and welcoming environment in the beauty industry.

What it does📄

It provides a solution for customers with visual impairments to access product information through their smartphones or devices. NFC tags are placed on product packaging and can be scanned using an NFC-enabled smartphone, providing access to a wide range of product information such as ingredients, usage instructions, and warnings through text and audio.

How we built it🔨

I first conducted research on NFC technology and its potential applications in the beauty industry. I then worked on designing and creating the solution in the form of product tags built-in with NFC technology.

Challenges we ran into⚠️

One of the main challenges I faced was ensuring that the NFC tags did not interfere with the overall product aesthetic and did not require any redesign or change in current products. At first, I thought to add the NFC tags within the products themselves which would require an extra compartment at the bottom of the products to hold the tags. Additionally, it would affect the aesthetic of the products so I decided to go with product tags that have NFC tags built in them to keep the tags external from the products themselves.

I am proud of the inclusive and accessible nature of NFC technology for beauty accessibility, and the potential impact it can have on creating a more welcoming and inclusive beauty industry.

What we learned📝

Through the development of my solution, I learned about the challenges and opportunities in creating accessible and inclusive technology solutions. Furthermore, it made me realize that people with disabilities are underserved and require more attention from the cosmetic industry.

What's next for NFC Technology for Beauty Accessibility🔮

In the future, I hope to expand the use of NFC technology for beauty accessibility to other products and to continue to improve and refine the solution based on user feedback and emerging technologies. I hope this encourages the adoption of accessible and inclusive practices in the beauty industry and beyond.
