Inspiration
I wanted to build a project that solves a real-world problem rather than just another chatbot. Organizations often struggle with reviewing compliance documents, identifying risks, and finding the right remediation steps. The idea behind NEXUSFLOW was to use AI to make compliance analysis faster, more consistent, and easier to understand.
What it does
NEXUSFLOW is an AI-powered enterprise compliance and remediation assistant. Users can upload compliance-related documents or asset information, and the system analyzes the content, identifies potential compliance gaps or risks, and provides actionable remediation guidance. It is designed to help users understand issues quickly and make informed decisions.
How I built it
I built NEXUSFLOW as a solo project using:
Python for the core application logic
Streamlit for the user interface
PostgreSQL for structured data storage
ChromaDB for vector storage and retrieval
Gemini API for AI-powered analysis and responses
Docker for containerized deployment
The system uses a retrieval-augmented workflow so that AI responses are grounded in the uploaded content rather than relying only on general knowledge.
Challenges I ran into
Integrating multiple components such as the database, vector store, and AI model
Handling document processing and retrieval effectively
Managing Docker configuration and service communication
Debugging Streamlit and backend integration issues
Ensuring the application remained responsive during analysis
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Building the entire project independently from start to finish
Creating a working AI + RAG pipeline
Integrating PostgreSQL, ChromaDB, Gemini, and Docker into one application
Designing a project with a clear real-world use case
Successfully getting the application running as a complete workflow
What I learned
Through this project I learned:
How retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) works
Vector database integration and semantic retrieval
Streamlit application development
Docker-based deployment
Connecting AI models with structured and unstructured data
The importance of debugging, testing, and system integration
What's next for NEXUSFLOW
My next goals for NEXUSFLOW are:
Add support for more document formats
Improve the user interface and dashboard
Generate downloadable compliance reports
Add risk scoring and prioritization
Support collaboration for teams and organizations
Deploy the application online for easier access
NEXUSFLOW is currently a strong prototype, and I plan to continue improving it into a more complete enterprise compliance assistant.
