NEXUS is a complete mobile-first React frontend designed for an offline, decentralized mesh messaging application. It is built to be deployed via Capacitor to Android and iOS devices, allowing users to communicate even when traditional internet and cellular networks are unavailable. NEXUS was inspired by the total collapse of communication during natural disasters, where functional smartphones become useless bricks without a central grid.

We looked to nature’s "Gossip Protocols" and historical "Sneakernets," realizing that human mobility itself can serve as a resilient, decentralized data transport.

Our goal was to turn every person into a living bridge, ensuring that information remains a human right even when the infrastructure fails. We built a Local-First architecture using React and Vite, replacing central servers with browser-based storage to ensure data persistence on every individual device.

We engineered a Multi-Modal Transport Layer that utilizes WebRTC for real-time local sync and high-density QR code streaming for air-gapped, physical data exchanges.

The core is a custom Store-and-Forward Relay Engine that manages message "hops" and deduplication, allowing information to travel across disconnected zones via human proximity.
