💡 Inspiration

Scaling customer support in B2B enterprise landscapes is incredibly expensive, yet completely shifting to fully autonomous AI usually leaves businesses terrified of losing absolute control over high-stakes client relationships. We built Nexus AI to bridge this exact trust gap—giving enterprises elite autonomous efficiency with absolute server-side control over when a human steps in.

⚙️ How We Built It

Nexus AI is architected using Next.js 15 (App Router) and TypeScript for solid end-to-end type safety. We utilize the Groq API running llama-3.3-70b-versatile to provide sub-second, ultra-low latency LLM interactions for real-time customer conversations. Cloud Firestore acts as our core multi-tenant datastore with onSnapshot real-time listeners for live tracking.

The core breakthrough is our Escalation Gatekeeper middleware on the /api/chat route. It intercept and parses incoming states securely on the server-side to guarantee zero client reliance during agent takeovers.

🧠 Challenges We Faced

Managing multi-tenant states securely while avoiding dirty/stale reads on dynamic customer dashboard channels was tough. We handled this by structuring strict Firebase upsert routing to lock customer session data down cleanly. Optimizing real-time stream state handbacks seamlessly without client UI refreshing required rigorous testing of Firestore atomic operations.

🎓 What We Learned

We mastered building purely server-controlled AI blocks that don't depend on fragile front-end variables. We also learned how to model raw character metrics to generate realistic token cost projections that convey absolute commercial business value directly to platform founders.

🚀 What's Next for Nexus AI

We plan to introduce live voice support streams via ElevenLabs speech-to-text and conversational voice tools to secure the sponsor challenge track. We're also working on automated Freshworks App Ecosystem marketplace connections, direct Stripe webhook infrastructure for real subscription handling, and multi-agent persona routers.
