Websites end. Human intentions don't.
WebMCP gives agents tools inside a website. NEXUS lets the user's intent continue beyond it.
NEXUS is a WebMCP-first proof of concept that explores a missing layer of the Agentic Web: intent continuity across independent websites.
The problem
Human goals rarely fit inside a single website.
An agent might successfully buy furniture from one provider, but the user's actual goal could be much larger: open an entire office, organize a trip, launch a business, or plan an event.
When one website reaches the boundary of what it can fulfill, the user's intent should not disappear with it.
What NEXUS does
NEXUS preserves the unresolved part of a user's goal and allows an agent to continue it across independent WebMCP-enabled providers.
The demo proves the complete lifecycle:
Fulfillment → Intent Handoff → Recovery/Reroute → Human Approval → Goal Complete
It also introduces an important trust boundary.
A user who starts with a specific provider remains in Brand Mode. NEXUS cannot silently divert that user elsewhere. Continuing through other providers requires explicit authorization into Broker Mode.
The agent can discover, plan and recover autonomously, while the human retains authority over consequential actions.
Hero mission
Our deterministic challenge is:
Open an office for 20 people in Guadalajara before October 1, 2026 with a MXN 500,000 budget.
The mission crosses five independent providers:
- OfficePro fulfills desks and chairs → 40%
- The user explicitly authorizes an Intent Handoff
- TechSupply fulfills computers → 60%
- FiberMX can provide internet, but installation is October 8 — after the deadline
- NEXUS records the failure and reroutes the unresolved requirement to NetBusiness
- NetBusiness can install by September 25 → 80%
- SecureNow finds a valid security solution but reaches a commitment-class action
- NEXUS stops at REQUIRES_HUMAN
- Only after explicit human approval is the installation requested
- GOAL COMPLETE → 100%
Final cost: MXN 410,000
Remaining budget: MXN 90,000
Deadline: Satisfied
Why WebMCP matters
NEXUS is not an agent calling one centralized REST API.
Each provider is an independent website exposing its own genuine WebMCP tools and owning its own catalog, pricing, availability and actions.
The production demo spans:
- 16 native WebMCP tools
- 5 independent providers
- 6 HTTPS origins
- Cross-origin WebMCP discovery and invocation
- Explicit permission boundaries
- Failure recovery and provider rerouting
- Human approval before commitment-class actions
We also validated the complete mission end-to-end using ChatGPT's WebMCP experience.
What we learned
The most interesting challenge was not tool invocation — it was preserving intent safely across website boundaries.
NEXUS treats failure as a first-class state. FiberMX is not hidden when it misses the deadline. The failure remains auditable while only the unresolved internet requirement is rerouted.
We also learned that agent autonomy and human control do not have to be opposites. Agents can discover, compare, plan and recover autonomously while humans retain authority at consequential boundaries.
Execution
NEXUS runs as a deterministic production proof of concept across six independent HTTPS origins.
Production Lighthouse scores:
100 Performance / 100 Accessibility / 100 Best Practices / 100 SEO
Agent Readiness improved from 39 to 66 (+69.2%), while the WebMCP-specific check remained 5/5.
We deliberately did not fabricate REST APIs, OAuth, MCP servers, A2A endpoints, SDKs, or other capabilities simply to increase a generic readiness score.
The idea
WebMCP makes websites agent-ready.
NEXUS explores what happens next:
What if the user's goal is bigger than the website?
One intent. Many providers. Human stays in control.## Inspiration
