About the Project

Inspiration

The idea for NEXUS was born from our shared vision of creating an AI-powered learning assistant that helps students access instant, reliable answers. Inspired by futuristic AI systems and the growing role of machine learning in education, we aimed to build a chatbot that not only answers questions but also enhances the learning experience.

What We Learned

Throughout the development of NEXUS, we gained valuable experience in: Google Gemini API for AI-powered responses React.js for building an interactive and futuristic UI API integration to connect the chatbot with real-time query processing Frontend and UI/UX design to create an engaging user experience Team collaboration in managing different aspects of the project

We also improved our problem-solving skills, debugging techniques, and learned the importance of optimizing API calls for better performance.

How We Built It

  1. Tech Stack: We used React.js for the frontend and integrated the Google Gemini API for the chatbot's intelligence.

  2. UI/UX Design: The design was inspired by futuristic themes, with smooth animations and a visually appealing interface.

  3. Developer Cards & Social Links: To highlight our contributions, we added a developer section featuring links to GitHub, LinkedIn, and Instagram.

  4. Deployment: The project was hosted on nexus.night-owls.tech using Vercel for seamless accessibility.

Challenges Faced

Understanding the Google Gemini API: Since it was our first time working with this API, we had to experiment with different prompts and response handling.

Designing a Futuristic UI: Making the interface visually appealing while maintaining performance was a challenge.

Optimizing API Requests: Balancing response accuracy and speed without exceeding API limits required careful planning.

Despite these challenges, building NEXUS has been an exciting journey, pushing our skills in AI, web development, and UI/UX design. We’re proud of what we’ve created and excited about its potential to help students learn more effectively.
