Inspiration

As we can see, nowadays our streets are full of problems, and we believe that nothing and no one is going to rescue us from the current situation , we must take control of that, and here comes the idea to reduce time and money and many resources that are being really consumed in streets.

What it does

NextWay is a startup that aims to solve any street related problems through technology, We believe that to have a big impact on out society, we need to take small steps. our first project is creating a smart bin (p1 v1.1) that does filter garbage at the moment when its throuwen, and that is through artificial intelligence, after scanning it with a special sensor (camera)it decides if its plastic, matal, glasse..etc , not only that, it does filter all of this with a mechanical system, compress garbage and detects if its closed to be full or not, and that's in order to send a signal to the company that collects garbage and calculate the shortest way for the driver to take, it saves money and time, more than that it rewards the user when he throws something in it with points, he can collect that through scanning a qr code shown in the bin's screen with an application provided by us NextWay, after that he would be able to redeem these points (for example if we had a partenership with djezzy, the user could get extra mobile data in the same way he can come it from walking 'walk and win')

How we built it

Hardware :

  • the smart bin has a sensor to scan the item or the object throwen
  • it filters these the garbage and compress it with a mechanical system
  • it has a screen to show stats, qr-code for users to redeem their points

Software:

  • a server side application that haas of course a database to store all types of data needed in this process, calculating the shortest way for garbage collectors through knowing which bin is full and which is not
  • a mobile application dedecated for uesrs, it lets you scan the qr-code given by the bin
  • a mobile application for garbage collectors, that shows tha path to take through google maps api
  • a website of the startup NextWay
  • a website that contains a 3D simulation of the process using our products

Challenges we ran into

  • it took time to figure out this idea, we took a lot of time to find an idea that is realistic and can be cone in a hackathon

  • we had succesfully create more than an AI model (object detection, face detection ,human detection and car detection for future projects)

What's next for NEXTWAY

  • we are going to create more solutions to street related problems, such as trafics, people waiting for the bus for a long time busses, lights that are on all the night, crossing roads for children and old people.
