What's Our Inspiration?

Two of our contributors, Yashvini Deva and Elisabeth Lau, tutor weekly at the Common Good. They work with men who would like to achieve the goal of completing their GED and apply for college or jobs. These men do not always have the answers to questions we believe might be "simple." We thought it would be easiest to have all these questions answered in one place to better prepare these men, or any non-traditional student, with all needed information.

What Does nextStep Do?

This project provides a "one-stop" platform for our audience to find their "nextStep" in the college and occupation process. Users will be able to track their GED, ACT, and SAT scores, read beneficial resources about relevant topics, and keep track of tasks and specific deadlines to their individual purpose.

What's Next for nextStep?

The nextStep team is very passionate about helping low income, non-traditional students receive the help they deserve in their college process. We expect to continue development of the application, share it with the Common Good and social media platforms to promote, and get the app out there to help everyone find their nextStep!

How Did We Build it?

The foundations of back-end are in React Native, and our design and simple flow is in Figma.

Our Challenges:

While coming up with an idea and designing the app was not difficult, our knowledge of coding an app was limited, and we ran out of time during the 36 hours and could not complete the application.
