Inspiration

Last December, planning a family trip to Andaman turned out to be far more stressful than expected. There were too many things to think about at once—places to visit, weather, hotels, activities, maps, safety, and budget. Jumping between multiple apps and websites made the process confusing and overwhelming. That experience inspired me to build a single, intelligent platform that simplifies travel planning from start to finish.

What it does

NextDestination.AI simplifies travel planning by bringing everything into one place. Users can discover trips, build custom itineraries with AI, explore places on maps, check hotels, view weather insights, and get safety and local information—without switching between multiple tools.

How we built it

To participate in the Gemini 3 Hackathon, i built the entire application using the Gemini 3 High model(Antigravity) as our core AI engine.

I began by experimenting in Google AI Studio, where early prototypes helped shape both the product vision and technical direction. As confidence grew, i imported the same project into Antigravity and scaled it into a full implementation.

The vision and product ideas came from me, while Gemini played a central role in turning those ideas into reality—from AI-assisted trip planning to intelligent itinerary generation and decision support. This close collaboration between human intent and Gemini’s capabilities allowed me to move fast, iterate effectively, and build a meaningful real-world solution.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was designing the Itinerary Builder interface. A lot happens on a single screen: Hotel booking options Activity search Map-based activity tracking Location insights directly from the map Scoped place searches to show nearby points of interest Balancing all these features while keeping the UI intuitive and not overwhelming the user required multiple iterations and thoughtful design decisions.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

A clean, interactive itinerary builder where AI and humans collaborate seamlessly A design that keeps complex travel data understandable and actionable Combining maps, AI suggestions, weather insights, and safety information into a single experience Apart from this the biggest Learning was also how one we can effectively use AI Editor Like Antigravity

What we learned

Designing agentic AI workflows for real-world use cases How to guide AI using user preferences instead of fully automating decisions The importance of UI clarity when AI, maps, and real-time data work together Building trust by giving users control over AI-generated outputs

What's next for NextDestination.AI

We have an exciting roadmap ahead: Voice-based AI Agent integrated directly into the itinerary builder Features for solo travelers and travel influencers to share itineraries via links Shareable itineraries embedded in YouTube video descriptions YouTube-inspired itineraries: Video transcript → AI-generated complete travel plan

Transformed the trip creation experience from a blocking 5–15s wait to instant navigation with progressive loading. Added database-level caching for both itineraries and attractions so the system gets faster with every user.
