Inspiration
During Product Manager interviews, a favorite question is “What is a favorite product?” followed by “How would you improve it?”. I decided to dig into a facsimile of my favorite product and work through building an improvement.
What it does
It automagically serves personalized, available book options when a reader returns a book – increasing reader engagement and optimizing inventory to checkout flow.
How we built it
I started by working through a custom GPT to create a PRD. Then, added my PRD to Bolt, where I generated a prototype and refined.
Challenges we ran into
The first version created the entire library app rather than limiting to the improvement, and it included too many options. I also learned it is probably better to tell Bolt I want to build a mobile product at the start, so it builds in React.
Obtaining access to the library and publishing data.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I’m proud of taking a stab at this, working through the process, and publishing a prototype.
What we learned
There are too many tools out there, and it makes it confusing to get started. It is good to have a community with whom to share notes and make choices to move forward.
What's next for Next Read
Time to do more vibe coding and take a look at the collaborative filtering on Audible to see how we might improve Next Read.
