Inspiration: In today’s fast-changing job market, candidates often struggle to understand their true skill levels and which areas to improve. We wanted to build an intelligent system that empowers learners and professionals by accurately assessing their competencies and recommending personalized growth paths.

What it does: SmartCompetence analyzes a candidate’s skills, assessment results, experience, and education to generate a competency score. It then recommends the most relevant courses and learning resources to help them advance their career effectively.

How we built it: We combined advanced machine learning models like XGBoost for competency score prediction with natural language processing using BERT embeddings for semantic course recommendations. The system processes skill inputs and assessment data to provide actionable insights and tailored suggestions.

Challenges we ran into: 1.Collecting and encoding diverse skill and assessment data into usable features 2.Balancing model accuracy with interpretability for users and stakeholders 3.Ensuring recommendations were relevant and personalized, not generic or biased
