Inspiration

Traditional project-management tools often require teams to manually create tasks, update statuses, organize work, and keep track of conversations across different platforms.

We wanted to explore a different approach: what if project management could understand the team's conversations and help turn them into action?

This led us to build Nexora, an AI-first project management platform designed to bring team communication, task management, and intelligent assistance into one workspace.

Instead of making teams adapt their workflow to the software, our goal was to make the software adapt to the team's workflow.

What it does

Nexora combines project management with AI-powered collaboration.

Teams can use Nexora to:

  • Create and organize projects.
  • Create, assign, and track tasks.
  • Manage work through a structured project workspace.
  • Collaborate with team members.
  • Interact with an AI-powered conversational interface.
  • Turn natural-language conversations into actionable project information.
  • Keep project-related communication and execution connected in one platform.

The core idea is simple: talk about the work, and let Nexora help organize the work.

How we built it

Nexora was built as a full-stack web application with a modern frontend and backend architecture.

The frontend uses React, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS to provide a responsive project-management interface.

The backend provides APIs for project, task, user, and collaboration workflows, with a database layer for persistent application data.

We also integrated AI-powered conversational capabilities using Agora's conversational AI technology, allowing users to interact with the platform through natural language rather than relying entirely on traditional forms and buttons.

The application is deployed using Vercel for the frontend and Render for the backend, allowing us to run the project as a production-accessible web application.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was connecting a conversational AI experience with structured project-management workflows.

Natural language is flexible, while project-management systems require structured information such as tasks, priorities, assignments, statuses, and project relationships.

We therefore had to design the application so that conversational interactions could coexist with traditional structured workflows.

Other challenges included:

  • Designing an intuitive project-management interface.
  • Connecting frontend and backend services reliably.
  • Managing project and task state.
  • Integrating conversational AI into the application workflow.
  • Handling authentication and user-specific project data.
  • Deploying separate frontend and backend services.
  • Making the application feel like a complete product rather than a collection of AI features.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have built a working AI-first project-management platform rather than simply adding a chatbot to an existing task manager.

Our key accomplishments include:

  • Built a complete project-management workspace.
  • Implemented project and task management workflows.
  • Added AI-powered conversational interaction.
  • Connected AI interaction with project-management functionality.
  • Built a responsive modern interface.
  • Created a separate frontend and backend architecture.
  • Deployed the frontend on Vercel and backend on Render.
  • Designed Nexora around a natural-language-first approach to productivity.

The biggest accomplishment is demonstrating how AI can become part of the project-management workflow itself, rather than functioning as a separate assistant sitting beside it.

What we learned

Nexora taught us that integrating AI into an application is not simply about connecting an API.

The real challenge is designing useful interactions between AI, structured application data, and human workflows.

We learned more about full-stack architecture, API communication, deployment, conversational AI, state management, and designing interfaces around natural-language interaction.

We also learned that a good AI product needs predictable workflows and clear user feedback so that users can understand and trust what the AI is doing.

What's next for Nexora

Our vision is to make Nexora an intelligent workspace where AI actively helps teams execute projects.

Future improvements include:

  • Automatic task extraction from meetings and conversations.
  • AI-generated project plans and task breakdowns.
  • Smart prioritization based on deadlines and project context.
  • Automatic progress summaries.
  • AI-generated meeting summaries and action items.
  • Personalized productivity insights.
  • Intelligent deadline and blocker detection.
  • Integrations with tools such as GitHub, Slack, and communication platforms.
  • Voice-first project management.
  • AI agents capable of taking routine project-management actions.

The long-term goal is to move project management from manually updating software to simply communicating what needs to be done, while Nexora handles more of the organization and execution.
