NEXORA AI — Your Personal AI Companion

Inspiration

We imagined an AI companion that could help people organize their day, explore information, communicate, and manage everyday tasks from one place. Many AI tools focus on individual tasks, so we wanted to bring useful capabilities together in a single, mobile-first experience. This idea inspired us to build NEXORA AI.

What it does

NEXORA AI is an AI-powered personal companion designed to bring everyday digital experiences together. Its core areas include:

  • My Day: A central space for daily activities and information.
  • Chat: A conversational interface and social communication features.
  • My Life: A personal space for organizing useful information.
  • Memory: A dedicated area for managing remembered information, with privacy and control in mind.
  • Home and Agents: Entry points for the companion experience and assistant capabilities.
  • Multilingual News: Language options for English, Tamil, and Hindi, with language-aware news presentation and speech playback.
  • Friends Chat: Friends, Chats, All, and Groups views designed to make social interactions easier to navigate.

Our goal is to make AI feel more accessible, useful, and connected to everyday life.

How we built it

We developed NEXORA AI using React Native, Expo, and TypeScript, with Supabase planned and used for backend data and authentication capabilities. We also worked on social features, onboarding, a robot introduction video, multilingual news presentation, and speech playback.

During development, we used AI-assisted tools to help with planning, implementation, debugging, and testing. We iterated on the interface and checked important project flows with TypeScript checks and automated tests.

Challenges we faced

One of our main challenges was bringing multiple features together while keeping the application understandable and consistent. Social functionality required careful attention to profile lookup, authentication state, and data access. We also had to work through multilingual content handling, speech playback, and differences between web and mobile environments.

Testing each feature independently was not enough; we also needed to consider how features behaved together and which capabilities were available in each build.

What we learned

We learned that building an AI companion involves more than adding AI features. Clear navigation, reliable authentication, privacy-aware data handling, useful feedback, and consistent testing are equally important. We also learned to validate features individually and avoid assuming that a successful build automatically means every end-to-end flow works.

What's next

We plan to continue improving reliability, accessibility, social experiences, multilingual support, and the core assistant workflows. Our long-term vision is to make NEXORA AI a dependable personal companion that helps people manage everyday digital life from one place.
