Inspiration

Traditional e-commerce platforms still struggle with one major problem: trust. Buyers worry about scams and fake sellers, while sellers have difficulty building credibility. At the same time, most marketplaces rely on centralized payment systems and intermediaries.

We asked ourselves: What if trust, identity, and payments could all be decentralized?

That idea inspired us to build NexCommerce, an AI-powered Web3 marketplace on Solana where verified buyers and sellers can trade securely using self-custodial wallets, reputation scores, and peer-to-peer crypto payments.

What it does

NexCommerce is a decentralized marketplace that combines the familiarity of traditional e-commerce with the benefits of Web3.

The platform provides:

  • Verified digital identities for buyers and sellers
  • Self-custodial Solana wallets
  • Trust Score and Tier systems
  • AI-powered shopping assistant
  • AI tools for sellers to optimize product listings
  • Peer-to-peer crypto payments without platform custody

Every user receives a permanent Nex ID Card after verification, representing their reputation and activity inside the ecosystem.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was designing a trust system that feels fair and transparent.

Another challenge was combining Web2 and Web3 experiences. Most users are familiar with traditional marketplaces but not with crypto wallets and decentralized payments. We had to design an onboarding flow that feels simple while introducing Web3 concepts.

We also needed to ensure that AI improves the shopping experience without controlling transactions or user funds.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Designed a decentralized identity and reputation system.
  • Created AI tools for both buyers and sellers.
  • Integrated self-custodial wallets into an e-commerce platform.
  • Built a trust-based marketplace instead of relying solely on ratings.

This project taught us that trust is one of the biggest missing pieces in Web3 commerce.
