Inspiration
In the digital age, the quest for interactive and captivating learning experiences led to the birth of Nexa - a hybrid of the quiz-driven engagement of Kahoot and the educational depth of Quizlet. Our aim was to create a versatile platform where users can not only quiz themselves but also dive into the creations of others, fostering a community of shared knowledge and competition. Nexa is envisioned as a tool that makes learning and engagement not just a necessity but a delightful choice.
What it does
Nexa is a dynamic platform that allows users to create, share, and engage with quizzes in an entirely new way. It's where individual study meets the competitive thrill of live quizzes. Users can explore quizzes created by others, enhancing their learning journey, or test their mettle in real-time competitions. Beyond just answering questions, Nexa is about creating a community around knowledge sharing, where every quiz taken is a step towards collective learning and fun.
How we built it
Building Nexa was a technological adventure, utilizing a stack that includes JavaScript, CSS, React for the front end, and PostgreSQL for database management. Next.js and Express.js form the backbone of our server-side operations, enabling robust and scalable web applications. Authentication is seamlessly handled through OAuth, ensuring a secure and user-friendly experience. The real game-changer was integrating web sockets, allowing us to offer live, interactive quiz experiences. Each element of Nexa, from the engaging UI to the custom-drawn SVG graphics, was meticulously crafted to enhance user engagement and satisfaction.
Challenges we ran into
Mastering web sockets within a short timeframe was a huge challenge for us. It demanded a deep dive into real-time communication technology, a challenge we met head-on for the sake of interactive, live experiences Nexa promises. Balancing the user-friendly interface with the complex backend functionalities needed to support a diverse range of quiz interactions was another hurdle that tested our resolve and skills.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We take immense pride in Nexa's blend of quiz creation and interactive learning, a unique combination inspired by Kahoot and Quizlet but elevated to a new level. The seamless integration of web sockets, empowering live competitions and real-time interactions, stands out as our crowning achievement. Nexa’s ability to not just function but to mesmerize, thanks to our custom SVG designs and intuitive UI, confirms the success of our endeavors.
