Inspiration
Moving to a new country is exciting, but it can also be overwhelming. Many newcomers to Canada face the same challenges: understanding paperwork, finding housing, managing expenses, building a resume, and adapting to a new system.
We created NewToCanada AI to make that transition easier. Our goal was to build a smart assistant that helps immigrants, international students, workers, and families feel confident from day one.

How we built it
We used MeDo to rapidly design and generate a full-stack web application using natural language prompts.
Using MeDo, we:
- Built the frontend UI and dashboard
- Structured multiple pages and user flows
- Added interactive budgeting and checklist systems
- Designed AI-powered guidance features
- Deployed the application as a live web product
We focused heavily on making the app clean, welcoming, and beginner-friendly.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was simplifying a complex process. Every newcomer has different needs depending on province, visa type, family size, and goals.
We also worked to balance usefulness with simplicity — making sure the platform gives meaningful help without overwhelming the user.
Another challenge was creating an interface that feels trustworthy, friendly, and easy to navigate.
What we learned
This project taught us how powerful no-code AI development can be when paired with a real-world problem.
We learned that tools like MeDo can dramatically speed up prototyping, iteration, and deployment while allowing creators to focus on solving user needs.
We also learned the importance of user empathy when designing products for people going through major life transitions.
What's next for NewToCanada AI
Future versions could include:
- Multi-language support (Punjabi, Hindi, French, Mandarin, Arabic)
- Province-specific legal and document guidance
- Real-time job boards
- Housing finder integrations
- Community networking for newcomers
- Personalized financial planning tools
Our vision is to help newcomers not just arrive in Canada — but thrive here.
