Inspiration

I've been wanting to start a newsletter for a long time already, but have never really got to starting one (yet). Finally, I found out about the Beehiiv product and everything clicked for me, it's polished and helped me understand the newsletter game. I signed up for it and set everything up for the newsletter I thought about for some time already and then I realized they have a very nice API and they don't have a mobile app, so I started building one. I didn't want to build just a simple CRUD mobile app, for the past few years, I saw a ton of nice social widget trackers so I thought I'd build one for the Beehiiv mobile app too.

What it does

The app allows you to connect your newsletter through an API key and display your general statistics for your newsletter and premium users get access to a newsletter widget to help them track their stats without even opening the app.

How I built it

I built the app using React Native(the app) and SwiftUI(the widget) with the help of Claude Sonnet 3.5.

Challenges I ran into

The main challenge was to connect the React Native app with the SwiftUI part of it for the widget because I know how to build apps using React Native, but I haven't done anything like this previously.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am proud of how the app looks. I am not a designer, but I designed everything by myself using code. The app widget and animations look really nice and it just feels pleasant to use the app.

How to connect SwiftUI native app with React Native, I will be re-using this knowledge in my next projects!

(17.09 Update) - 3 weeks after initial release.

I've received a lot of positive feedback about the app within the last month so I kept working on it and tried making Subscription worth more.
