Inspiration

Solving the real necessity for people to have access to test kits, allowing a cheap rapid test at home that will prevent disease spread and save lives. With Newsight's solution, anyone will be able to get tested from his own house and monitor their health. It will allow getting medical treatment on time, prevent infecting others and causing a potential pandemic.

What it does

At-home affordable, portable, IOT connected diagnostic kit that can identify corona virus infection in matter of seconds using light only, based on Newsight’s spectrometer-on-chip solution.

How I built it

The device is based on Newsight spectrometer-on-chip, allowing to find markers of the virus using light only in a matter of seconds.

Challenges I ran into

The research is still in process in order to identify the right markets of the virus, but first results of the ability of the device to trace markers of different viruses are very promising

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Newsight’s prototype succeed to detect using its spectrometer on chip the spectral signature of Dengue virus markers, allowing to distinguish sick from healthy.

What's next for Newsight At-home real time diagnosis kit

Newsight continues to work on the research and start conducting tests for the Coronavirus markets, expected to deliver the device to the market in a few months.
