Inspiration

These days it is very difficult to find trustworthy news sources which have easy ui so that people with different interests can explore their favourite genres that is why we created this project.

What it does

Our project shows news from various domains. We also provide users with a weekly newsletter containing top news of the week.

How we built it

We used newsapi from newsapi.org to fetch news from various news sources and mailchimp api to collect email addresses of users. We used react, bootstrap to create the frontend of the website and node, express to create the backend of the website.

Challenges we ran into

In our team nobody was familiar with node.js and express.js so it was quite difficult to adapt with them in a small amount of time. We faced some difficulties in linking the newsletter with the landing page.

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

we worked on back-end and front-end both. It was our first time using node, express, and API to make a real-life project, which was a little intimidating, but we learned a lot. We made a real life project in a very short amount of time with very little past knowledge.

What we learned:

we learnt many new technologies, we learnt how to work in a team and we learnt how to make projects in a time crunch.

What's next for NewsDoor

We plan on integrating various features on this project which will work on a subscription based model Which will include features like - Searching news based on time, location, automatically, Having a feature of text to speech.
