Inspiration
I was inspired to make this project after reflecting on my everyday experiences and realizing how rampant misinformation/disinformation is in America.
What it does
Educates users about news literacy and aims to gamify important concepts to make them easier to learn.
How we built it
I used Bubble.io
Challenges we ran into
At first, I didn't know what platform/software to use and I spent a couple hours agonizing over it and switching back and forth. I didn't want to use Bubble.io because I'd never used it before and it seemed a little complicated. However, faced with the time constraints, I decided to go with it. After grinding in their Learner Academy, I felt good about using it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud of the aesthetics of the site (big fan of blue and purple). I'm also proud of the short game I made. I've never made a game before and I'm glad it turned out okay.
What we learned
I learned that hackathons can require a lot of quick decision making which is something I definitely need to work on. I also learned that no-code/low-code projects are still a lot of work.
What's next for News Warriors
Developing the game aspect further by interviewing a diverse set of people for their experiences. Also incorporate more concepts to make the game more educational.
