News Lowlights

Inspiration

When I read the news its obvious to me that some people count more than others. What hurricane Harvey did to Texas matters more than Puerto Rico, while monsoon flooding in India is completely swept under the rug. We take news in a nationalist fashion, regardless of need. This project hopes to change this, so that aid will go to the people who need it the most, and the way we count lives will be more equitable.

What it does

Sorts news articles by severity, so for places with more need will have more coverage, regardless of their nation.

We delt with some sleep deprivation, but it was worth it.

We will expand the library of news articles available in the program, eventually expanding into a search engine that can sort severe events from reputable news sources.
