Inspiration

As a student and developer, I find it boring to read news articles that are long and inject negativity.

So, I thought how can we make news articles more engaging and entertaining.

Then, I found research about TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Twitter, Emojis. All they have one thing in common. They replaced something.

1. TikTok replaced long videos.
2. YouTube replaced long posts.
3. Emoji replaced short text messages.

So, I thought of implementing summarised content for news. And extracting tags for articles so that the user gets a gist by seeing the tags.

And I wanted to solve the negativity part of news spoiling our minds. So, I thought of adding a sentiment rating to it. So, that I can see whether the author is negative, positive about the news.

What it does

1. It summarizes news articles and displays them on the front page.
2. Extracts important tags from news articles and displays them for getting more context quickly. 3, Shows sentiment of the article to avoid bias and avoiding mental stress.

## How I built it

I cloned Modzy's Flask app template and understood and built the entire app using flask and Modzy python SDK.

Challenges I ran into

First I developed the app in Svelte using Modzy JS SDK but, I was getting some errors so, I switched downloaded their flask template and it wasn't working as I didn't know what environment was in python and faced many path errors but, with the help of discord community and Mozy developers I was able to rectify it.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am proud that I was able to complete this application successfully.

What I learned

I learnt how easy it is to implement ML models without the hassle of maintaining the backend.

What's next for Sankshipta

Building a WordPress plugin, so that hundred of news websites can benefit from it.
