Inspiration
I've always liked the simplicity of Hacker News and I wanted to be able to create a web app using the same style but I also wanted to learn something new this hackathon so I attempted to do it in an unknown technology for me called React Native.
What it does
It displays the top news of the US and has a "choose country button" that is not functional yet.

Using React Native with Typescript and NewsApi
Challenges we ran into
I hadn't worked in React Native or Typescript so learn them in less than 2 days was challenging. Coming up with an idea took me more time than expected.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Using a brand new technology for me to develop a project in a hackathon is something I'm proud of.
What's next for NewNews
I want to add "choose country" and "choose category" functionality as well as rank and comment option like in Hacker News
