Inspiration

I'm Zeng, a mom of four, and newmom.help comes from my own experience as a new mom. When I had my first child, I felt lost, scared, and alone. I remember asking myself, "Am I a good mom?" or "Why am I so tired?" late at night. I wished for a tool that could listen, give kind advice, and share helpful tips without judging me. Now, seeing other new moms struggle the same way, I built newmom.help to be a safe, judgment-free space where new moms can find instant support and resources, like a friend who's always there.

What it does

newmom.help is a 24/7 AI-powered platform for new moms, offering personal support and resources without medical advice. The NewMom AI chatbot listens and responds with kindness to questions like "I feel like a bad mom" or "I feel so tired," giving encouragement and practical tips. The Curated Resource Gallery provides helpful content for new moms, such as self-care tips, baby care guides, relationship advice, mental health support, recipes, and more, making motherhood feel less overwhelming.

How I built it

I started newmom.help on June 9, 2025, with just one prompt in Bolt. That single prompt created a full website, a resource directory, and a starting point for content tailored for new moms. It was like magic! I added more to the Curated Resource Gallery, including self-care tips, baby care guides, relationship advice, mental health support, and recipes, all things I wanted as a new mom. The chatbot was next, as I believe it's key to supporting new moms with instant, caring responses. I launched the site on X the same day, June 9, and new moms have been sharing positive feedback on X and Reddit.

Challenges I ran into

With no tech background, building newmom.help was tough. The hardest part was connecting the Gemini API for the chatbot. It didn't work right at first; the responses were off, and I spent hours tweaking it to make the chatbot kind and helpful. Setting up Google Sign-In was another big hurdle. I spent a whole day trying to get it to work, feeling frustrated when it kept failing. I almost gave up, but Bolt's Discussion Mode saved me, guiding me to fix the API issues and get the sign-in working smoothly.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

I'm proud that I, a mom of four with zero coding knowledge, built newmom.help from scratch using Bolt. Launching it on June 9 and getting positive feedback from new moms on X and Reddit feels amazing. I'm especially proud of the NewMom AI chatbot, which supports new moms with kind, instant responses, like telling them "You're doing great" when they feel down. Creating a judgment-free space that new moms are already using is a big win for me.

What I've learned

I had no coding experience before this, but Bolt's Discussion Mode taught me so much. I learned to connect the Google API for features like Google Sign-In, change fonts to make the site warm and inviting, create a chatbot for instant support, and set up Supabase to manage data. Bolt's Discussion Mode was like a patient teacher, helping me figure out each step, even when things got tricky.

What's next for newmom.help

I want to grow newmom.help by investing in marketing to reach more new moms. My goal is to find real users and paid users, listen to their feedback, and improve the product. I plan to enhance the chatbot to make it even kinder and add a paid memory feature to save special moments for new moms. With these steps, newmom.help can become the go-to platform for new moms everywhere, making motherhood less overwhelming.
