Finding mentorship or protegees in fields in interests has never been easier than with our Networking Mentorship Tool, NMT.js. Made during NewHacks University of Toronto 2020. NTM.js provide a platform to connect mentors and protege together in a safe and convenient way. Connecting with others who are in your fields of interest open about growing their networks, in any academic programs and finding new opportunities to meet other thriving professionals in the field of choice who are more than happy to help or receive advice. Introducing for the first time ever a platform to specialize connect all mentors and protege in a convenient and easy to use approach. We tailor your matches to make the pairing process easier and constantly update our security measure to make sure that everyone gets the best experience possible. Targeting age demographic of high school students and university students.

How It Works

Login on the landing page using the "Sign In" button on top-right of the picture
Once directed to the login page, enter log-in details to authenticate and log on to your account
The user will be first directed to their profile page that renders the main profile, posting options, view of recent most recent previous posts, and recommendations and reviews from their network circle.
By choosing "Find+r" on the navigation bar, the user is able to access the primary functionality of interacting with other people on the website, viewing potential matches they have matched with and can choose the option to "Connect" with.

My passion for front-end web development and design lead me to wanting to participate in NewHacks. I really enjoyed meeting first time hackathon students and providing guidance on the process for our development workflow, collaborating code using git, coding syntax, and wireframe designs. These two days really broadened my perspective for the various opportunities to create coding projects outside of bootcamp and internships (which were my previous experiences with coding).

It was a pleasure to work with Jericho, a first year engineering student from Western University who has a passion for learning new technologies. & Joyce, a psychology specialist from UTSC. This event further developed our experiences and team collaboration skills.

Having experienced prior difficulty in choosing my program and career choice back in high school, the idea of developing an app that is student-focused and will allow for individuals in the fields that these students are interested in to share their experiences and be willing to mentor students in order to grow their network, have a sense of community but also confidence in themselves for their future career choices quickly came to mind. I worked on the front-end development of the web app using Visual Studio Code and standard HTML/CSS. Having the opportunity to work with my team member Judy, a digital product designer, I was able to contribute to the wireframe design of the web page to really try and envision the layout of how we want the user to interact with the web application.

Working in a group towards a common goal while under a time constraint allowed me to further develop my collaboration and leadership skills. Overall, this being the first hackathon I have attended, I have found it to be very rewarding and makes me excited to participate in future hackathons where I can meet and work alongside passionate individuals who want to apply their skills to create something that integrates technology and benefits society.
