Inspiration

Vietnam is entering a new era of development with numerous administrative and territorial reforms. The merging of provinces, cities, wards, and communes is taking place rapidly to streamline the system and promote balanced growth. However, this also creates challenges in remembering and searching for geographical, historical, and cultural information about each locality, especially for citizens, students, and younger generations.

What it does

NewAgeGeography is a user-friendly AI application that helps citizens and students look up old and new names of administrative units, understand the history of formation, mergers, and cultural characteristics of their living areas. The application provides stories, images, maps, and vivid data to make learning and sharing easy and engaging.

How we built it

We utilized AWS Party Rock to build the AI platform, combined with a local geographical and cultural database. The interface is designed to be user-friendly, enabling quick and intuitive information lookup.

Challenges we ran into

Collecting and updating local data is a major challenge, especially when administrative unit names are frequently changing. Additionally, integrating vivid maps and images requires significant processing effort.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have developed an updated and easy-to-use geographical lookup platform. The application not only supports learning but also helps citizens stay updated with local information effortlessly.

What we learned

Throughout the development process, we learned how to handle constantly changing data and how to integrate AI to optimize user experience. Moreover, leveraging AWS Party Rock enabled us to build a robust and reliable system.

What's next for NewAgeGeography

We plan to expand the application with additional features such as voice search support and the integration of more local stories to make the experience more engaging for users.
