Inspiration

We felt inspired when we realized many of us in our team had similar things we have never tried that we have always wanted to do. This included going to the pumpkin patch or riding a horse. This project came from a place where we wanted to create a community of like-minded people with similar passions. In this community, you have the resources and the friends to ** try something new **. We expressed that what prevented us from doing such activities was the fear of not knowing what to do, how to do it, and being alone. With NEW2YOU app, those fears can be mitigated by having all the information at your fingertips and the network of people.

What it does

This application provides its users with events near them that they can view and sign up for. Users are encouraged to try new adventures with a leader of the event and other users that also have interest in the event. Letting go of the fear of going to do something new by themselves this app helps bridge the gap for experienced and inexperienced explorers with verified users. Each user must pass a background check and abide by the house rules in order to keep everyone safe on their new travels.

How we built it

We built the application using Figma and Visual Studio Code to render some of the back-end code that focuses on the design aspect of the application. Hoping to gain more experience coding in order to be able to code the functionality aspect of the project.

Challenges we ran into

One of our challenges was the lack of knowledge on some coding interfaces. Figma interactive components and establishing connections between the different layers.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The flow of the app and the detail we were able to incorporate.

What we learned

We learned how to use Figma and familiarized ourselves with its prototype and interactive components. Learned of new coding platforms such as visual studio code.

What's next for New2You Adventure App!

Planning to implement the app globally and having a feature where you can plan excursions to international trips. We also want to implement the app with other existing apps such as Airbnb, Tripadvisor, Yelp and etc.
