Inspiration
The lockdown in Italy generated an increment in requests of home care and assistance services. We want to try to offer a solution that has the objective to help people in need, particularly the elders, diminishing social distances and spreading a sense of solidarity.
What it does
Our goal is to create a platform and a network, which links service-providers with consumers on one end, and free work force with work on the other.
How I built it
We gathered ideas came from the personal experiences from the team individuals. We started by analysing pre-existing models, finding its strong and weak points, and then applying the new conditions and restrictions imposed by the pandemic emergency.
Challenges I ran into
There are people who are not very familiar with the new tools and technologies of communication. This limits greatly the capability to assist people in need because they generally do not know how to ask for help.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We were able to organize and train many young people in our territory who had never worked before or were unskilled. We are also very proud of the friendship and bonds that came from working together as a team.
What I learned
We saw a change in the common habits after the lockdown. In particular, it is almost impossible to provide physical help in respect with the social distances, which brought us to rethink completely the concept of solidarity under new terms.
What's next for New solidarity economies
We hope to be able to reach as many people as possible and hack social distances to restore humanity as its best.
