Inspiration
We decided to combine the topic of Telus and AI and come up with a plan that can solve the issue of figuring out what phone plan to use easily. By leveraging AI, we aim to provide a personalized and efficient way for users to select the most suitable phone plan based on their unique usage patterns and preferences.
What it does
Our project utilizes machine learning algorithms to analyze user data such as call time, data usage, and international calling habits. Based on this data, the AI recommends the best phone plan offered by Telus that matches the user's needs. The goal is to simplify the decision-making process and ensure that users get the most value out of their phone plan.
How we built it
We surveyed over 100 people in Bahen to determine their monthly data usage, call minutes, and international calling habits. Using this data, we suggested optimal phone plans by plotting these values on a graph and calculating the best plan based on the Euclidean distance. We then used this model and the suggested outputs to train a large language model (LLM) to provide accurate plan recommendations based on user input.
Challenges we ran into
It was difficult for us to decide firmly on an idea, and to make a strict . We also faced challenges with ensuring the data used for training the model was clean and representative of actual user behaviour. As well, tuning the machine learning model to provide accurate recommendations. Finally, seamlessly integrating the AI model with the user interface to provide real-time recommendations.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We completed a project in a strict time limit, learnt a lot and made memories. We trained an AI model, learnt how to use new softwares and pushed ourselves to our limits.
What we learned
We learnt how to collaborate and split responsibilities as a team according to our strengths. We also learnt that we should learn to manage our time better so that we can effectively come up with a project.
What's next for New Hacks Telus Phone plan
For next time we want to get a nicer front end to display our project nicely and be able to present what we worked on.
