Inspiration

The initial inspiration came from Revenucat's Shipyard Hackaton, more specifically Sam Beckman's brief on the challenges he faces when using reminder apps across his many devices and the lack of a unified solution that works flawlessly across the platform. From there, things became more personal every day, while dogfooding I realized that shared reminders would be very helpful for families and started to build collaborative features inside the app. Regardless the result of this Hackaton, the NeverMinder is just in its beginnings.

What it does

In short, makes sure you don't miss your tasks!

NeverMinder is a reminder app with real-time updates and synchronized notifications across all your connected devices. Actions taken on a device is instantly reflected on the others. For example, dismissing a notification makes it disappear in all devices. Similarly, snoozing and completing a reminder updates them everywhere.

You can also share reminders with other people and be notified when anyone completes it. The app leverages native Android integrations so you can interact with notifications even on your wearables.

How we built it

Built with Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose Multiplatform, Firebase Firestore and Cloud Functions and RevenueCat for monetization. Making big use of agentic AI coding assistants like Claude Code and Gemini CLI we were able to quickly prototype and bring not just an MPV but complete features to life in a short period of time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Real time synchronization across devices, on-time notifications and a smart synchronization system that reconciles notifications whenever the reminders are updated. Extracting the most of Android's notification system, like notification "replies" to back-up the custom snooze system, full screen notifications to show a rich alarm UI with all the actions that can be taken on a reminder.

To be honest, being able to put everything we did into this app in a short period of time was mind blowing, we learned a lot about agentic coding and how to extract the most of and had a "reality check" on the state of building products from scracth.

What we learned

You can do it! As full time workers, working mostly overnight, and on weekends, for this project it was astonishing how quick we could build this MVP and iterate on new features. There is always a tradeoff when you go for speed but now we know how new doors can be opened and how to close the right ones when dealing with AI agents.

What's next for NeverMinder

Things will slow down for a while for some house cleaning. To have a solid development future we need to review the app foundations and make sure they're strong and re-wire some things. This will enable faster development cycles.

From there, there is a growing backlog of features, UI/UX polishing and monetization strategies we want to put in place. One of the main tasks will be bringing feature-parity to the iOS app, which currently have some limitations given we prioritized Android for the hackaton. If you like what you see, keep an eye in the App Store in the near future!
