Inspiration
We were inspired to work on this project because current TTS tools don't offer good Neural TTS voices at a reasonable price. We realized you can make a better project by combining apps together.
What it does
It reads files such as PDFs in natural sounding TTS voices
How we built it
We built the front end using flask, JavaScript, HTML, & CSS. We used Google Cloud TTS for the natural sounding TTS voices.
Challenges we ran into
We wanted the file to be highlightable and show the words it's reading as you go along, but that feature has been difficult to implement.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of implementing the Google Cloud TTS API. When we finally got the TTS reading a pdf, that moment was magical.
What we learned
We learned how to work in a team, how to plan ahead, etc.
