Inspiration

Excessive amount of misinformation and biased information flowing throughout the internet causes group polarization and wrongful information spread throughout the country, which damages society, democracy, and overall stability of the country as people are being pushed apart due to popular media sources.

What it does

Uses AI to search through articles under a certain keyword that are also under the classification of "trending" and "politics" in order to summarize the article for easy reading along with an analysis of potential political bias or misinformation to inform the viewer of any problems with the source.

How we built it

Used Google Breadboard to create a program that intakes a query from the user and uses the Gemini AI to search for articles under the keyword while also scanning through for any potentially non-neutral information and creating a summary of the findings, which would be written by Gemini AI as well.

Challenges we ran into

First time using Google Breadboard, first time working with AI to create a program, and no knowledge of creating a website. We also spent a while brainstorming on what to do as an initial idea in order to find out something we all feel comfortable with. Group collaboration was something we were all relatively new to so learning to work together was also a challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Learned to use AI to create something that could be useful to the everyday person, experimenting and using successfully a workspace that we are unfamiliar with.

The program has a lot of flaws, our website is very amateur, we want to add a filter system and more of an interactive website in order for the user to have more comfort in finding reliable information, maybe even expanding beyond just news
