Inspiration

We created Aleza out of a simple but powerful observation: many people struggle silently with their emotions and mental health, often lacking a safe space to express themselves or receive support. During intense college routines, we noticed how difficult it was to talk openly about stress, burnout, or even small emotional fluctuations. That’s when we thought—what if there was a digital companion that doesn't just listen, but understands?

We wanted Aleza to be more than just another chatbot. We envisioned it as a quiet friend, always available, offering a sense of safety, understanding, and encouragement—especially when human connections feel out of reach.

What It Does Aleza is a smart emotional companion that adapts to you. It listens, empathizes, and responds with compassion. Whether you're journaling your thoughts or simply checking in with your feelings, Aleza analyzes your emotional tone and offers personalized support, prompts, and affirmations. The more you interact, the more Aleza learns to gently guide you toward emotional well-being and clarity.

How We Built It We built Aleza using Bolt.AI, which allowed us to design powerful workflows without diving deep into backend complexity. We combined that with:

Tailwind CSS for fast, responsive UI styling

TypeScript and JavaScript for robust client-side logic

Vite for a smooth development experience

Node.js for local runtime support We also used .env configuration for secure API handling and PostCSS to fine-tune our styles.

The project was developed entirely during the hackathon timeframe—starting from idea to prototype in just a few days.

Challenges We Ran Into Emotion detection tuning: It took several iterations to get Aleza to respond empathetically based on real user input without sounding robotic or generic.

Contextual journaling: Making Aleza remember or infer context from recent inputs while maintaining privacy and simplicity was tricky.

Time crunch: As with any hackathon, balancing scope and quality in a limited time was a real challenge. We had to prioritize core features and cut others.

Learning Bolt.AI: It was our first time using Bolt’s workflow engine, so figuring out the right blocks and data mapping took some trial and error.
