Inspiration ✨🧠
Finals week hit me hard — not just the stress of exams, but watching friends’ moods spiral down in silence. It made me wonder: What if we could catch these mood crashes early, before they take over?
EEG devices that read brainwaves are crazy expensive ($10K+!), locking mental health tech behind a high wall. I wanted to tear down that wall — making brain-powered mood tracking something anyone can use, anytime, anywhere.
What it does 🚀💡
NeuroSync EEG Stimulation is my brainchild — a smart, offline, and affordable system that:
- Simulates real EEG brainwaves (alpha, beta, theta, gamma) so you can see your mind in action.
- Uses cool machine learning magic 🪄 to decode your mood from those brainwaves.
- Lets you pick EEG stim types and times — to boost focus, memory, or just chill out.
- Gives you instant mood summaries and vibes in a slick app that never needs the internet.
Basically: it’s like having a brain coach in your pocket. 🎯
How we built it 🔧🛠️
- Dug into open EEG datasets from Physionet — no hardware? No problem!
- Extracted brainwave frequency bands with custom signal filters — noisy brain data, meet your match.
- Trained a hybrid ML squad (SVM + Random Forest) to read moods from brain signals.
- Crafted a super slick, offline-first web app where you can track your brain state and run EEG stim sessions.
- Added a stimulation timer with animated waves — because cool visuals help you feel the brain vibes. 🌊
Challenges we ran into ⚡🧩
- No EEG headset in hand meant I had to get creative with data simulation.
- Brain signals are like a noisy party — separating the music (signals) from chatter (noise) took some ninja-level filtering.
- Zero prior experience with EEG or ML made this a wild self-learning ride — forums, papers, and lots of late nights. 🌙
- Making everything run offline and still look super polished was a tough design puzzle.
Accomplishments that we're proud of 🏆🔥
- Building a full offline EEG mood tracker + stim simulator — no backend, no cloud, no excuses.
- Making machine learning work in real-time on brainwave data — yes, it’s as cool as it sounds.
- Open sourcing the whole project to help break down barriers for mental health tech worldwide.
- Creating a smooth, beautiful app UI that runs anywhere — even on a slow connection or airplane mode.
What we learned 📚💡
- EEG signal processing is hard but opens a window into the mind’s secret rhythms.
- Combining SVM and Random Forest models gives our mood predictions extra superpowers. 🦸♂️
- Offline-first design means users own their data and can use the app anytime, anywhere.
- Open datasets like Physionet are treasure chests for hackers without fancy hardware.
What's next for NeuroSync EEG Stimulation 🌟🚀
- Hook up with affordable EEG devices like OpenBCI to get real, live brain data.
- Add live feedback loops so users can train their brains like athletes train their bodies.
- Work towards medical validation — because this tech deserves to make a real-world impact.
- Develop AI-driven personalized stim sessions that adapt just for YOU.
Let’s hack the brain, one wave at a time! 🌊🧠⚡
